On June 5th, we celebrate World Environment Day. This is a day when we come together to appreciate and protect our planet. It’s more important than ever to focus on environmental issues, as climate change continues to be a major global threat. There are many ways that you can take part in World Environment Day, and we will discuss some of them in this blog post. We hope that you will join us in celebrating our planet!
How did World Environment Day come about?
The United Nations General Assembly established World Environment Day in 1972 to mark the opening of the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment. The conference was held in response to growing concern about the state of the environment. Each year, World Environment Day has a different theme. This year’s theme is #OnlyOneEarth. The goal is to encourage everyone to take action to protect our planet. We only have one Earth, and we need to take care of it.
The Water Scarcity issue
One of the biggest environmental issues that we face today is water scarcity. This means that there is not enough clean water to meet the needs of everyone on the planet. According to the United Nations, by 2025, two-thirds of the world’s population will be living in areas with water scarcity. This is a huge problem, as water is essential for life. Without clean water, we cannot survive.
Water scarcity is caused by a number of factors, including climate change, population growth, and industrialization. Climate change is causing our oceans to warm and our glaciers to melt. This means that there is less water available for us to use. Population growth is also putting a strain on our water supplies. As the world’s population continues to grow, we are using more and more water. Industrialization is also polluting our water sources, making them unsafe to drink.
So what can we do about it?
There are many things that we can do to help solve the problem of water scarcity. One way is to use less water. We can do this by making small changes in our daily lives, such as turning the tap off while brushing our teeth. Every little bit helps! We can also save water by planting drought-resistant plants in our gardens. Another way to help is to support organizations that are working to solve the problem of water scarcity. There are many charities that work to provide clean water to communities around the world. You can learn more about them and make a donation on World Environment Day.
