World Water Day is celebrated annually on March 22nd to raise awareness about the importance of water and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources. The day also highlights the need for everyone to take action to make sure that water is used sustainably, not just on World Water Day but every day.
Water is essential for life – without it, we would not survive. It is a precious resource that we must learn to conserve and protect if we want to secure a future for ourselves and for generations to come.
When did World Water Day start?
The United Nations General Assembly designated March 22nd as World Water Day in 1993. The day was first observed 29 years ago and has been growing in popularity and relevance ever since. The day was created to bring awareness to the more than two billion people who live without access to safe water worldwide.
Why is World Water Day important?
Water is a finite resource, which means that only a certain amount of it is available on our planet. And yet, water is often taken for granted – we use it without thinking, and we waste it without realizing. Every day, we use water for drinking, cooking, bathing, cleaning, and watering our plants. But we also pollute water with chemicals and waste, which leads to serious environmental problems.
World Water Day reminds us that we need to be more conscious about how we use water and to take steps to protect this precious resource. It is a day to celebrate water but also a day to reflect on the ways we can improve water conservation and management.
We can do numerous tasks every day to help conserve water, such as turning off the faucet when we’re not using it, taking shorter showers, and washing our cars with a bucket of water instead of a hose. World Water Day allows us to reflect and look back on our mistakes and how we can amend them going forward to create good, conscious habits.
What is Purafy is doing to help the water crisis?
We at Purafy believe in a world where everyone has access to clean water.
We want to make this vision a reality by identifying key problems that persist both in Canada and around the world with respect to people’s ability to access water sustainably, then address these problem areas as innovation opportunities for the new filtration systems and material technologies that we are bringing to market.
